Access all your favorite apps from the Lock screen with AppBox 8 [Jailbreak Tweak]

Access all your favorite apps from the Lock screen with AppBox 8 [Jailbreak Tweak]

AppBox-8
There are a lot of jailbreak tweaks on Cydia dedicated to the Lock screen as well as Cydget add-ons. AppBox, a popular jailbreak tweak for the lock screen has been updated for iOS 8.
Just like its predecessor, AppBox 8 allows you to launch all your favorite apps directly from the Lock screen. It adds an extra page to the Lock screen which can be accessed by swiping the screen to the left. Doing so displays all your favorite apps on the new page allowing you to launch them directly from the Lock screen after entering the passcode, if it’s enabled.
Other than this, AppBox also allows you to perform shortcuts when you tap and hold on certain app icons such as compose a new message or mail, write a note, view your music playlists and much more.
The tweak comes with a bunch of configuration options which you can access from its preference pane in the Settings app. You’ll notice that the pane is divided into three different sections namely General, Lock Sleep Timer and Options.
From the General section, you can enable or disable the tweak via the kill switch toggle, choose the apps that you want to access from the Lock screen, enable auto-unlock option to open apps without entering the passcode, choose the amount of apps per row as well as customize the icons.

You can also adjust the opacity and the size of the icons that best fits your taste. After you’re done, go back to the Lock screen and swipe from right to left. A new Lock screen interface opens where you’ll view all the enabled apps which you can launch right away.
If the passcode is disabled on your device, you’ll be taken to the app right away, however if you have a passcode set up on your device, you’ll first be asked to enter it before proceeding to the app. As mentioned earlier, enabling the auto-unlock option will allow you to launch apps without entering a passcode, but it take you back to the Lock screen after you press the Home button. You can also restrict this option to specific apps only.

Going back to the configurations of AppBox, you’ll find a few options in the Lock Sleep Timer section which is self explanatory. The last sections called Options provides additional features that are quite interesting. You can select the various shortcuts that you want to invoke when long holding on an app icon such as make a call, text your friend, compose a new mail and much more.
You can also customize the Lock screen by hiding the Camera, Control Center and Notification Center grabbers, hide the date view and the Slide to Unlock slider as well as change its text.
I’ll highly recommend that you give AppBox 8 a try if you’re looking for a high quality Lock screen extension. The tweak can be purchased from Cydia’s BigBoss repository for $1.5.
