iPod shuffle supplies shortened for ‘unspecified period of time’ according to report
While the holiday shopping season may have wrapped up a bit of time ago, for anyone looking to get their hands on a new iPod shuffle around this time may be running into some issues.
According to a report published by 9to5Mac, and citing several different sources, supplies for the iPod shuffle are apparently a bit constrained for unspecified reasons. The report states that supplies for the low-cost iPod shuffle are starting to shrink at physical retail stores across the country. Indeed, Apple seems to be informing retail employees that the iPod shuffle will be facing a shortened supply list for “an unspecified period of time,” and that employees should be directing potential buyers to Apple’s online store.
Unfortunately, as noted in the report, buying an iPod shuffle online is going to be just as difficult, apparently. Or, more specifically, getting the device after the purchase is made. While Apple is still selling the device in its varying color schemes, shipping times for the shuffle have been set back to 7 to 10 business days. To compare, the iPod touch and iPod nano are listed as shipping in about 24 hours after the purchase is made.
What’s actually causing the supply shortage is unknown at this time. It could mean that the iPod shuffle is facing some components constraints, or maybe the device that was introduced in 2010 is reaching the end of its line. What do you think is causing the shortage?
