Apple informing developers in Canada, EU and other countries of incoming app price changes

While change can sometimes mean good things, it’s often met with some form or another of speculation. Apple has just informed developers in some countries of an impending change to some app prices.

According to a report published by 9to5Mac based on an email shown to the publication, Apple is informing developers of an incoming price change to applications within the App Store. These changes will go into effect in countries including Canada, those within the European Union, Iceland, Russia, and Norway. The prices will show up shortly, starting at the end of this week.

As for the reason behind the changes, Apple says that the alteration is due to reflect changes that are hitting currency rates and exchange rates. The prices will go up in all of the aforementioned countries, except Iceland. In that select region, prices are actually going to go down. As for Russia, it’s still up in the air what the price changes will mean, exactly, as there isn’t any additional information at this time.

“Dear [Developer],

Within the next 36 hours, prices on the App Store will increase for all territories in the European Union as well as in Canada and Norway, decrease in Iceland, and change in Russia. These changes are being made to account for adjustments in value-added tax (VAT) rates and foreign exchange rates.“
